Sir: Mirtazapine is a unique antidepressant thatinvolves both serotonergic and noradrenergic enhancement through blockade of the α2-autoreceptorand α2-heteroreceptor.1It is also a 5-HT2blocker,which makes it a potential anxiolytic agent.2Overall,mirtazapine appears to be a useful agent in patientswith depression coexisting with anxiety symptoms.3
