Article Abstract

The ultimate goal of acute treatment for schizophrenia is the resolution of symptoms. Unfortunately, when selecting medications and treatment strategies, many clinicians rely on clinical intuition and informal interviews without also using measurement-based rating scales. This activity discusses methods for improving response to acute pharmacotherapy, the necessity of medication adherence to prevent relapse in the maintenance phase, and the importance of using measurement-based care during all phases of treatment for schizophrenia.
