Sir: Chronic severe posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) resulting from early physical and/or sexual abuse is a highly prevalent psychiatric condition in women. PTSD causes persistent functional impairment and emotional distress and generally shows only a limited response to current available psychopharmacologic treatments.
